Obituary

Sharon Maloney Foust, of Bluffton, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 6, 2026, at the age of 72.

Born to the late Charles and Sue Maloney in Waverly, NY. Sharon grew into a woman known for her kindness, strength, and unwavering dedication to her family. She built a fulfilling career as a Licensed Practical Nurse, serving in hospitals, nursing homes, and home care settings, where she was admired for her compassion and gentle touch.

Sharon was a loving mother and grandmother whose greatest joy came from supporting her children and grandchildren. Whether she was cheering from the sidelines or applauding from an auditorium seat, she never missed a chance to celebrate their accomplishments. Her family can still hear the unmistakable sound of her cowbell ringing proudly at football games — a sound that became a signature expression of her love and enthusiasm.

She cherished music throughout her life, often filling her home and her days with the songs she loved. Her passion for music paired naturally with her love of driving, especially the joyful memories she carried from her youth, cruising in her beloved 1960s Mustang convertible. She spoke of that car often, remembering the freedom, fun, and soundtrack of those years.

Sharon was also a gifted and creative crafter, known for turning simple materials into meaningful treasures. Her handmade creations brought joy to those around her and reflected the care she put into every detail of her life.

Aside from spending time with family, Sharon's favorite thing to do after her move to South Carolina was to sit on her balcony glider, watching the hummingbirds and making conversation with passing neighbors. She especially liked talking to folks walking their dogs. The dogs knew that she always had treats and would pull their owners up the stairs to sit for them.

Sharon is survived by her three children: John Foust (Julie) of Stanley, NY, and their children Lydia and Elsie; Ken Foust (Jennifer) of Portland, OR, and their children Emily and Nellie; and Bethanne Foust Barner of Bluffton, SC, and her children Griffin and Violet.

She is also survived by her siblings Susanne Bolden of Mesa, AZ, Thomas Maloney (Joyce) of Rochester, NY, Maureen Baker of Overland, KS, and Mary Kay Pohl (Frank), of Waverly, NY and was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Sue Maloney.

Sharon will be remembered for her love of music, food, crafting, and the warmth and laughter she brought to every family gathering. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched — as a mother, grandmother, sister, nurse, and friend.

A celebration of Sharon's life will be held at a later date in Waverly, NY.
