Robert J. (Bob) Miller 88, of Blackburn Hill, Waverly passed away May 9, 2018 in Newfane, NY. Born October 16, 1929 in Spencer, NY the son of Esther (Toivonen) and Festus Miller, and the husband of the late Mabel (Kirk) Miller. Robert lived all but a few years of his life on Blackburn Hill. He enjoyed hunting and NASCAR. He worked for Westinghouse in Horseheads, NY for over 38 years. Robert was also the Town Supervisor of Chemung for a number of years. Prior to his position as Supervisor he served on the Town Board as Town Councilman. He also helped Mabel with her catering business. Robert was a long time member of the Chemung Grange. Robert is survived by his son Ronald Miller of Middleport, NY; his daughter Susan (Michael) Garwood of Matthews, NC; his sister Shirley (Howard) Cole of Waverly, NY; his grandchildren Colby and Griffin Miller, and Lauren (Peter) Green, Julie (Leury) Laureano, and Mason Garwood. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Ruth (Albert) Hollenbeck of North Spencer, NY and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A graveside service at the Chemung Cemetery will be held May 18, 2018 at 11AM. Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Robert's name to the Chemung Volunteer Fire Department.
