Mary Smith Stout, 73, of Waverly passed away June 11, 2012 at the Robert packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born November 27, 1938, to Durwood and Mary (Katie) Smith, in the small coal mining town of Glen Lyon, Pennsylvania. Mary was the youngest, with sisters Bessie, Vera and Yoda. Mary says her parents ran out of creativity when they named her! Mary graduated from Berwick High School and began working in a shirt factory. Mary was married to her beloved husband Forrest (Peaches) on Thanksgiving Day 1958 which also was Mary's 20th birthday. The newlyweds moved to Sayre in 1960. Mary was very active in the community. She was the president of the hook and ladder Ladies Auxiliary. She served on the Board of Directors for the Cancer Society for ten years. She acted as the drive coordinator for the Meals on Wheels program. She taught Sunday School and led the children's' choir and also sang in the adult choir.  Her latest service was as the choir director of the Elderwood choir the "Golden Songbirds" Mary loved her family and would do anything for them. Surviving her are her children, Melissa (Patrick) Gorman, of Waverly and Charles Stout and his fiancé Renee Henry, of Waverly her three grand children, Julie and Elizabeth Gorman and Ryan Henry, also her sister Vera McAfee, of Pottsville, PA.  and several special nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Services will be held Thursday June 14, at 11:00 am at Waverly Methodist Church. Family and friends are invited to call at the church from 9:00 am until service time.
