Obituary

Mary M. Hanaway 1921-2012 Mary M. (Harding) Hanaway, 90, went to be with her Lord at noon Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Sayre House in Sayre, PA.  Our precious loving mother,, grandmother, and great grandmother has joined family and friends in Heaven. Mary was predeceased by her parents Mary and Joseph Harding, her husband Joseph Hanaway, and her brothers Joseph (Bud) and Francis Harding. Mary was a wonderful woman with many talents and interests. She was a U.S. Army Veteran Second Lieutenant serving during World War II in Italy. After returning home Mary worked as a Nurse Anesthetist for several years and then at the Waverly Central School District as the school nurse. She walked for enjoyment and exercise and many have seen her walking all over Waverly. She enjoyed golfing at Tomasso's with her husband and their friends, ballroom dancing, trips to long Island to visit family, ice skating, watching the Rockettes,  plays, especially the Nutcracker, summer vacations at Fair Haven Beach, and family picnics in Ithaca. Also many special times too numerous to mention. Surviving her are her children; daughter Jacqueline (Mark) Bellis, of Dundee, NY her son, Jeffrey Hanaway, of Woodhull, NY. Her grandson and godson Brandon (Elizabeth) Bellis, twin great grandsons, Joseph and Dominic Bellis, all stationed with the U.S. Coast Guard in California. Mary also is survived by her nieces and nephews Terry, Vicki, Greg, Elaine, Stephen, her sister in law Florence, cousins; Sharon, Mike, Tim, Jane, John, Mike, Karen, Rita, and Teresa, and numerous friends and acquaintances. At Mary's request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday January 12, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at  Blessed Trinity Parish Saint James Church in Waverly. Internment will be in the Spring at Saint James Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly, NY. Please visit TheLucknerFuneralHome.
