Obituary

Jean Miller Of Lockwood Jean (Maslin) Miller, of Lockwood, passed away Friday January 6th, 2012 after a very courageous battle, at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, NY. Born June 27, 1939, in Waverly, NY the daughter of the Late Kathryn (Crowley) and Archie Amos Maslin. Jean was also predeceased by her husband, and father of her children, Lynn Schock, and husbands Kenneth Coddington, and Lee Miller, her sisters, Mary Ann Williams and Rose Alexander and her brother John Maslin, and niece Carolyn Temple. Jean was a lifelong resident of the Valley. She graduated from Waverly High School. She attended Saint Pius Church and Blessed Trinity Parish Saint James Church in Waverly. Jean enjoyed snowmobiling, reading, gardening, bird watching, church, and especially sharing time with her family. Jean worked for many area employers: Ransom Insurance, Ithaca Agway and most recently Tioga State Bank. Jean was well known and respected throughout the community. You couldn't ask for a better mother and grandmother. Those around her will be deeply saddened not having her in their lives. Surviving Jean are her children: her son Alynn Schock, her daughters; Deborah (Thomas) Bannister, Kathryn (Joseph) Sears, and Mary (John) Cary, her grandchildren: Lucas (Nicole) Bannister, Tiffany Bannister, Jeana (Robert) McKenzie, Joseph Sears, Jaclyn Sears, Katelynn Cary, Jack Cary, great-grandson Greyson Bannister and special stepdaughter Donna Mistler. She is also survived by her sisters Mike Maslin and Margaret Brackin, as well as other step children, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, January 11, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish Saint James Church in Waverly. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday January 10th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Luckner Funeral Home, 449 Park Avenue, Waverly, NY. Internment will be in Lockwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Jeans' name to either the Upstate New York Chapter of the Multiple Sclerosis Society or Strong Memorial Hospital.
