Jean Elizabeth Bentley, of Waverly

Jean Elizabeth Bentley, 88 of Sayre, passed away, Tuesday September 14 ^th , 2010 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Born June 27, 1922 in Owego, NY the daughter of the Late Catherine (Gaul) and Joseph Garzia and loving wife of 64 years Leo F. Bentley Sr. jean was also predeceased by her two sisters Rose and Mary.

Mrs. Bentley was a lifelong resident of the Valley. She was a past member of St Johns Church. She worked as a retail clerk for many years in the area her last being for Ames Company in Sayre. She was an avid reader, loved to crochet, and bowled with Leo for many years in the Friday Night League. Her family was her greatest joy; she was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will always be remembered as "Gramma Jean".

Surviving her are her husband Leo F. Bentley Sr. at home her children; Leo F. (Lynette) Bentley, Jr., Richard Lance (Caroline) Bentley, Carol (Harold) Wells and Lorie (Richard) Douglas, all of S. Waverly as well as 10 grandchildren, 15 great grand children and her great great grand daughter. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive Jean.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday September 16 ^th at 1: 30 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Parish Saint James Church in Waverly, NY. Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly, NY. Internment will be in Tioga Point Cemetery. Those wishing may consider memorial donations in Jeans's name to the Guthrie Hospice.
