Helena May Sherman, of Waverly, passed away Friday September 2nd, 2011 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA. Born March 29, 1937in Owego, NY the daughter of the Late Ralph Leo Hill and Helen (Crum) Hill. She is also predeceased by her sisters fern and Mary and her brothers Ralph and George. Helena had many interests she was a member of the Montour Moose Lodge # 426, loved playing Euchre, all games of chance and a spending a day at the casino. She especially enjoyed living in the house on Cayuta Lake. She worked as a transportation Aide at the Robert Packer Hospital. Surviving her are her loving husband of fifty three years James Sherman Sr. at home, her children Rosemarie (James) Bill, Judy (Jeff) Stephens, James (Connie) Sherman Jr. all of Waverly, Richard Sherman of Ithaca, NY, and Gary (Sandra) Sherman of S. Waverly, PA.  Helena is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren, her sister Beatrice Jacobs, of north Carolina, and her brother Robert Hill, of Lowman, NY, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Friends and family are invited to call Tuesday Evening September 6th from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. at the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly NY. The family will have a private Memorial Service at the conclusion of calling hours. Those wishing may direct memorial donations to their local chapter of the American Cancer Society.
