Elizabeth (Betty) Seymour
Elizabeth (Betty) Seymour of Owego, N.Y., passed away peacefully on
Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at Riverview Manor Nursing Home. She was born on
March 11, 1924 in South Waverly, Pa.
Betty was predeceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Irving (Wig)
Seymour; her parents, George and Alice Frantz; her sisters, Marie,
Alice, Ethel and Josephine; her brothers Donald, George, Edward, Paul
and her favorite, Richard and his wife Ginger.
Betty is survived by: her daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Steve Grace
of Windsor, Conn.; her son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Jill Seymour of
Tioga Center, N.Y. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren
upon whom she was always bestowing Nonnie hugs: Meg, Jane (Jonathan),
Andrea (Jennifer), Kevin (Sarah) and Geoffrey (Jenifer) and four
great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Olivia, Alexis and Cameron. She is also
survived by her sister-in-law, Verna Swimelar, and many special nieces
and nephews.
Betty was a loving wife, a wonderful mother, a doting grandmother and a
true friend to many, especially Laura Hoppe and all of her other
neighbors on Clark Street. She brought love and laughter everywhere she
went. In her arms you always found the comfort you needed. No matter how
near or far away you were, she always made you feel safe and loved and
"home." She will be greatly missed.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Riverview Manor for their
wonderful care, Mary and Ron Seymour at Victorian Manor for their
kindness and opening up their home and to Dale Corbin and everyone at
Springview Apartments for their care and companionship.
At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.
A private service will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to honor her memory are asked to make a donation in her
name to the charity of their choosing. And in keeping with Betty's
generous spirit, play with a child, spend time with your family, laugh
with your neighbors on your front porch and give someone who needs it a
hug.
