COVERT
EDWARD RYAN COVERT, 77, of, Waverly, died January 20, 2011 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer. On that day, he joined his parents and siblings, his daughter Kathleen, and his grandson Ryan in heaven.
Edward Ryan Covert was the son of Gertrude Ryan and Leo F. Covert of Newburgh, NY. He served in the U. S. Navy and was employed by IBM Owego for nearly 30 years.
Ryan Covert was a dedicated family man; he was married for over 50 years to his best friend, Lea. He had a passion for golf, FOX news, the New York Yankees, and especially, the New York Giants. He loved and served God faithfully through his service and generosity to his church, Habitat for Humanity, LINK and the community.
Edward Ryan is survived by: his wife Lea, his daughters and their husbands, Sheri and Glenn Neu, Carole and Matt Noah, Patricia and Ken Corl, Michelle and Mike Simonovich, and Peggy and Doug Bradley. "Poppy" is also survived by his grandchildren: Michael, Chelsea and Jason Simonovitch, Kenny and Jenny Corl, Ashleigh and Shane Bradley, Michelle and Danielle Neu, Nick and Kelly Noah, and Janna Coppage. He is also survived by his brother, Joseph Covert and sister, Jane Kaleel, a large and loving extended family, and legions of friends that will miss him terribly.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 24th, at St. James Catholic Church in Waverly at 12:00 pm. with his dear friend, Father Vincent Langan, officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the church prior to the Mass from 10:30 am to 12:00 pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Guthrie Cancer Center in Sayre, PA for their extraordinary love and care for Edward Ryan and his family through this journey.
