Doris Mae Sharpsteen, 85 of Lockwood, NY passed away suddenly on June 25th surrounded by her family.  Doris was born in South Waverly PA. on February 13th 1925, the daughter of the Late Franklin E. and Myrtle VanGorder Blake. Doris was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who lived her life taking care of her family, and always thought of her children first. She loved going to Bingo, planting flowers, cooking, singing, crocheting,  making things for her family, and most of all spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was a 25 year member of the Owego Loyal of Moose, a lifetime member of the Lockwood Volunteer Fire Department , and a member of the Sayre V.F.W. Doris was predeceased by her husband of 66 years Henry. She is survived by her five children sons and daughters in law; Donald and Diane Sharpsteen, Spencer NY, Allen and Debbie Sharpsteen, Waverly NY, daughters; Dolores Allen, Waverly NY, Lena Sharpsteen, Waverly NY, daughter and son in law Bonnie-Lee and Darel Kyle JR. , Lockwood, NY. Also 16 grandchildren, 43 great grandchildren, and 8 great great grandchildren. Doris is also survived by her sister, Frances Mooney, of Newfield,NY half sisters; Betty Campbell, and June Matthews, half brothers; Henry Blake, of VanEtten,NY and Ronald Blake, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Doris was predeceased by her brother, Franklin L. Blake, sister, Myrtle Johnson, half sisters; Katherine and Mary Blake and Dale Eccelston, half brothers; Frank, Purl and Howard Blake, her grandchildren; Michael John Lindblad, Dontai Grayson, and Carter Wheeler. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday June 29, 2010 at 12:00 noon at the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly NY Pastor Richard Vanderpoel will officiate. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00a.m. until time of the service. Internment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery  Waverly NY . Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Doris' name to the American Cancer Society.
