Dana Blondell Ivester

Dana Blondell Ivester,48, of Waverly passed away unexpectedly Saturday July 28, 2012.
Born September 2, 1963 in Elmira, NY, he was the son of the late M. Blondell "Blondie" and Norma (Blair) Ivester. He graduated from Waverly Central High School in 1981, where he enjoyed cross country running, math, and science. After high school, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps with several of his classmates, including lifelong friends Mike Bean and Jeff Clinton. He served honorably for six years as a Marine Cartographer, spending several years in Japan where he enjoyed the culture. Following his military service, he returned to Waverly and worked as a master carpenter with his father. He attended Corning Community College. In recent years, he was a GIS Specialist for a firm in Elmira. He enjoyed reading and gardening. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Surviving Dana are his wife Tina (Peterson), stepchildren Lewis (Jennifer) Kipp and Angela (Michael) Miller, grandchildren, Kayla, Abigail, Ryan, and Madison. His sisters Marion (Roger) Carling, Athens, PA., Marlene (James) Rider, Suffolk, VA. And Melissa (John) Clinton. He is also survived by his mother-and father-in-law, Don and Ann Peterson, Aunt Winda Blair, Uncle David (Betty) Blair, all of Waverly, NY Aunt Jessie Keller, Toccoa, GA. Uncle Dennis (Mae) Ivester, Clayton, GA., Great Aunt Berna Hammers, Frankford, IL. and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to call Wednesday August 1, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly NY.
