Constance (Connie) Hogan, 83, of South Waverly, Pa., passed away after a battle with cancer on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at home with her family by her side. Born March 24, 1928 in Chicago, Il., the daughter of the late Dorothy (Gorton) and Orville Hodge. She married Charles Hogan on August 1, 1953 at Saint James Catholic Church in Waverly. He passed away January 6, 2001. She is also predeceased by her infant son, Louis. Connie graduated from Waverly High School in 1945. She was a member of Saint John's The Evangelist Catholic Church in South Waverly, the Altar and Rosary Society and Birthday Club. Connie retired from the Sayre Area School District where she worked as a secretary at Snyder Elementary. She volunteered at ElderWood Healthcare Facility, helping with the bingo program and was a member of the Waverly Senior Citizens. Connie loved to cook, shop and was an avid reader. Her family was her greatest joy, always attending her children and grandchildren's sporting events and school activities. She will be deeply missed by all. She is survived by her four children, Teresa (Terri) (Mike) Graham of Corning, N.Y., Patrick (Sue) Hogan of Clinton, Pa., Rita (Ed) McDonald of Athens, Pa., and Charles (CT) (Penny) Hogan of Sayre, Pa. Grandchildren Steven Collea, Shelby, Kathleen and Victoria Hogan, Tava, Stephen, Patrick and Courtney McDonald, Jeremy Hogan, Jessie (Jordan) Shaw. Great-grandchildren Thomas and Charles McDonald, Hogan and Jack Shaw. Her sisters Shirley (Paul) Madigan of Waverly, N.Y., Patricia Ferguson of South Waverly, Pa., brother-in-law Robert Hogan of Waverly, N.Y. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends are invited to call Tuesday, April 26 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Luckner Funeral Home, which is located at 449 Park Ave., Waverly, N.Y. A prayer service will be held at 9 a.m. at the Luckner Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated Wednesday, April 27 at 9:30 a.m. at Epiphany Roman Catholic Church in Sayre, Pa. Rev. Vincent Langan will officiate. Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Connie's name to the American Lung Association, Guthrie Hospice or a public library of your choice.
