Of Waverly

Clyde M. Wandell, 66 , of Waverly passed away Thursday August 5 th , 2010 at the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre, PA.

Born March 9 th , 1944 in Gastonia, NC the son of the Late Merritt Eugene and Millie Jenelle (Wiggins) Wandell. Clyde was also predeceased by his brothers; Billy, Sam and Marty(Rick) Wandell and his sister Donna Vasquez.

Clyde after being born in Gastonia, grew up happily in Litchfield PA. and has called the valley his home his entire life. He went to Sayre High School where he played football. He also worked as a caddy at Shepard Hills Country Club, Doc and Wayne's Body Shop, and was manager of Valley Bowling Lanes. He is a United States Coast Guard Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. He came back from the service to continue work at Valley bowling, he co-operated Atlantic Service Station on Broad Street in Waverly. He began his career with Brockway Motors of Elmira which became Beam Mack Sales and Service. He retired after forty years of service as a foreman but continued relationships he had made from home. Although he couldn't be categorised, Clyde had many hobbies and talents that he enjoyed immensely; woodworking, oil painting and artwork, engine repair for himself, friends, and family , chainsaw repairs, gardening , target practice, cooking, wine making, and he was a great party coordinator(Claudette). He liked lighthouses and nature scenery. Clyde's character was known by all who met him. He enjoyed life and making people laugh no matter what the situation. Clyde loved his large family and his many friends here in the valley as well as those in Litchfield, PA.,Ohio, North Carolina, Florida and Tennessee. His family will always have fond memories of Orange Hill. Special thanks to all who cared for him especially the nurses of the 6 th floor, Jennifer Hughey and Deepa Kuchelan.

Surviving Clyde are his loving wife of 42 years Marcia Elaine Wandell at home, his sons Michael George Wandell , and Chad Merritt Wandell both of Waverly, his brothers: Keith Wandell, of PA. Kim Wandell, of Sayre, Daryl (Carol) Wandell, of Waverly, his sisters; Darlene (Thomas) Horton, of Athens, Pamela Wandell, of Ohio, Candy Wandell, of Waverly, Carmen Wandell, of Rhode Island and Linda (Kenneth) Clark, of Chemung NY, special family members George, Chuck and Dennis Wandell and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday August 7 th at 2:00 p.m. at the North Waverly Chapel, Chemung Street Waverly. Reverend William Wells will officiate. Family and friends are invited to call on the family at the North Waverly Chapel Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service. Internment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery Waverly, NY. Those wishing may consider memorial donations to either Clyde Wandell Family Charity Fund to help needy families C/O North Waverly Chapel or to Stray Haven Humane Society.
