Of Nichols

Lois Luckner Keene, 87, of Nichols, NY, passed away on Tuesday, September 18, at Elderwood at Waverly, in Waverly, NY. Born December 3, 1930 in VanEtten, NY, she was the daughter of the late Rena and Clayton Luckner, of Waverly, NY and sister to the late Patricia Baine and Shirley Spernyak. She graduated from Waverly High School, married her husband Richard (Dick) Keene, and was the mother of their three children. Lois worked for many years for the Tioga Central School District as a cashier and classroom aide until her retirement. She was predeceased by her son Stephen Keene of Concord, NC. She is survived by her husband, Richard and their children; Diane Keene of Johnson City, NY. And James (Linda) Keene of ST. Petersburg, FL. Lois leaves behind her special grandchildren: Stacy, Jonathan, Kelly, Cristopher, and Brandon and their families who brought her such joy. Lois is also survived by her brother and sisters-in-law Gerald (Mary) Keene, Fred (Lois) Hill, and sisters-in-law Elizabeth Birney, Louise Fay, and Carol Keene as well as many nieces and nephews. Lois fought a long and courageous battle before passing to her eternal rest. We, her family, thank all the staff and professionals at Elderwood who provided care and support to Lois and to our family.  Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Luckner Funeral Home, 449 Park Avenue, Waverly, NY.
