Joanne Knapp, 69 of Athens, passed away Saturday April 9, 2016 at the Athens Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Born May 25, 1946 in Waverly NY, the daughter of the late Nellie (Gantner) and Lawrence Wells.
Joanne greatest joy was her family, watching her grandchildren play sports, playing BINGO, and going out to eat with family and friends. Joanne worked at Beemans’ Restaurant for 15 years and enjoyed waiting on her “Counter Critters” every morning. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew her.
She is survived by her two sons; Larry (Nancy) Tompkins, of Waverly, William Tompkins, of Athens and her daughter Sandie (Chris) Mummert, of Athens, her grandchildren; Chrystal Tompkins, Dustin Tompkins, Kassandra Winters, Kaidon Winters and Mallory Mummert,  her great grandson Tristan Miller, as well as several nieces, and cousins. She was predeceased by her sister Betty Jane.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Joanne’s life will be held Wednesday April 20th, 2016 at the Athens Township Fire Hall from 12:00 to 2:00 pm. Arrangements are with the Luckner Funeral Home 449 Park Avenue Waverly, NY. Please visit TheLucknerFuneralHome.com to offer your condolences.
